A Beautiful Big Group Family Photo Session at Naviti Resort, Coral Coast
There is something incredibly special about photographing a large family gathering — the laughter of cousins running barefoot, grandparents watching proudly, siblings teasing each other between shots, and generations standing side by side.
Annita’s session at the Naviti Resort on Fiji’s Coral Coast was exactly that kind of magic.
She invited all her friends and extended family, making it a wonderful big group celebration. To capture it properly, she chose my Happy Package (1h40) — the perfect amount of time to photograph both structured group portraits and relaxed, candid moments without feeling rushed.
Part One: All Generations Together
The first part of our 1 hour 40 minute session was dedicated entirely to the full group — and when I say full group, I truly mean all generations.
From grandparents to the youngest children, everyone came together beautifully. We began with classic formal portraits of the entire group — the kind of images that will be framed and treasured for years to come.
We then broke it down into smaller combinations:
Grandparents with grandchildren
Each individual family unit
Siblings together
Cousins together
Friends who feel like family
With large groups, organisation and flow are key. I guide everyone clearly and efficiently so we can capture all the important combinations while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and fun.
Once the formal portraits were done, we moved into my favourite part — directed games.
Rather than asking everyone to “stand still and smile,” I create playful prompts: walking together, group hugs, cheering, tickle fights with the kids, or whispering something funny. These little moments bring out genuine laughter and natural expressions, especially in big groups where energy is high.
The result? Images that feel alive, connected, and full of personality.
Part Two: Sunset with Annita’s Immediate Family
As the sun began to lower, we transitioned to the beach for the second part of the session — a more intimate time with Annita, her husband, and their four beautiful children.
After the excitement of the large group photos, this quieter sunset moment allowed us to focus on their immediate family connection.
We captured:
Romantic portraits of Annita and her husband
Individual portraits of each child and siblings together
Cuddles, laughter, and playful interactions
Barefoot walks along the shoreline
Soft sunset silhouettes
With four children, there is always movement — and I absolutely love that. Real family sessions are not about perfectly still poses. They are about connection, closeness, and capturing each child’s unique personality.
The golden light of the Coral Coast created the perfect backdrop for these relaxed, heartfelt images.
